As much as we hate a list, we love a list. At least, we love our own. This
one is from VH1 who asked their readers of their website to vote for the
Top 100 Hip Hop Songs of all time. The results? Both obvious and interesting. And nauseating.

18. 50 Cent - 'In Da Club'
17. Sir Mix-A-Lot - 'Baby Got Back'
16. Missy Elliott - "Get Ur Freak On'
15. Eminem - 'Stan'
14. Tupac - 'I Get Around'
13. Wu-Tang Clan - 'C.R.E.A.M.'

1. Public Enemy - 'Fight The Power'
Sure, they're mostly good songs, lots are even great songs. But are they worthy of being in the upper echelons of the list? Kanye West's 'Gold Digger' is catchy, but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't beat the genius of Afrika Bambaataa or Beastie Boys or Biz Markie or 2 Live Crew or the Roots or MC Lyte or De La Soul or Slick Rick or any number of artists that we could list. And I'm pretty sure that Fiddy Cent shouldn't even be allowed in a list entitled
100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs because he is nauseatingly rubbish.
