Apart from Crown Princess Mary (once of Tasmania), this writer’s knowledge of Denmark is extremely limited. Limited, perhaps, to the following points: you call people from Denmark ‘Danes’ and/or ‘Danish’, their flag is red and white, and that this Scandinavian country is also the place the Raveonettes call home.
Recent internet lurking however has led to the discovery that Raveonettes member Sharin Loo has a sister, and said sister (Loui Foo) has two friends (Lisbet Fritze and Sofie Johanne), with whom she makes music.
The trio goes by the name Giana Factory, which has something to do with the old factory in Copenhagen where they recorded their music last year (their bio is slightly ambiguous on this point).
When looking at their silver masks with electric tribal markings and almost Modular-esque flyers and photographs, it would be easy to assume these lasses make stabbing American Apparel electro. They don’t. The songs on Giana Factory’s MySpace (two of which appear on their recently released
Bloody Game EP) instead suggest gently brooding songs of both love and hate. And then there’s this:
