US Entertainment Weekly has just released their list of top albums from 1983 until now. It's pretty much bullshit. And the evidence is right here.
Shania Twain
Come on Over and Mariah Carey
The Emancipation of Mimi both came in the top 20s, beating the likes of Beastie Boys, the Pixies, Bob Dylan, the Smiths, Elvis Costello, Notorious B.I.G., and the Police. The Nirvana album chosen for the list was
MTV Live in New York. The Greenday album chosen was
American Idiot. Bjork was outdone by Sheryl Crowe. Run DMC was trumped by Kelly Clarkson. People out there think Coldplay is better than LCD Soundsystem. Prince was number one though, thankfully, although he's immediately followed by U2.
Let's not even start on the albums that were ignored.
Feel free to use this time to vomit. Everywhere.
