Common's anticipated album
Invincible Summer is still on its way, but we have the first leaked track from it 'U.M.C. (Universal Mind Control)' for your listening pleasure. Featuring cameo-whore (only to be outdone by Mr West) Pharrell Williams, it's electro-vibed and sounds like a bit of a homage to Afrika Bambaataa's 'Planet Rock'.
It's certainly a new direction from Common's previous work and while it's pretty fun, we've only had a few listens and somehow, something smells a little bit fishy.
This could be due to the fact that the leakage is via DJ Skee and DJ Reflex, so be warned that there are continual interruptions giving props to them and reminding you that it's a world premiere, which (after the third or fourth time) is genuinely upsetting.
