You might have heard of this duo called MGMT, they were kind of super popular circa 2007 with their debut LP
Oracular Spectacular. Among other things, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden got groomed white kids the world over wearing Indian headdresses and woven headbands. Now they're on the brink of releasing their sophomore album.
Already
Congratulations has gotten a bunch of attention for its Ausgang-designed Sonic the Hedgehog-esque, early '90s artwork. Goldwasser apparently announced that fans of the band's previous album shouldn't get razzed that there will be another installment of a 'Kids' or a 'Time to Pretend'.
The first leak from the LP is 'Flash Delirium'. At first it sounds like it could almost be a little Hot Chip inspired, but 18 seconds in it's distinctly MGMT again; the fellas – despite saying that this album will be no repeat of OS – haven't necessarily evolved their sound that much. It's still that user-friendly neo-psychedelic/indie-rock that they initially garnered a lot of praise and fans for.
