As if we weren't already going a little bit gaga over Damon Dash (co-founder Roc-A-Fella records) and The Black Keys' hip hop project,
Blakroc, here are three more reasons. Three songs – with Q-Tip, Mos Def, Billy Danze, Nicole Wray, RZA and Pharoahe Monch – have just made their way into our ears.
The more tracks deep (and the more listens) into
The Blakroc Project one gets, it becomes clearer that Mos Def's sometimes whispered, mumble styles and Q-Tip's completely natural rhymes seem like they were made for The Black Keys' brand of laid-back bluesy-rock. Compared with Q-Tip, Billy Danze's rhymes on 'Hope You're Happy' actually jar a little. Still, this album is a wonder.
