Beastie Boys postpone tour due to Adam Yauch's recent cancer diagnosis

Adam Yauch (AKA MCA) of the pioneering Beastie Boys has recently been diagnosed with an apparently "very treatable" cancer in his salivary gland.

Yauch, 44-years-old, announced the illness in a vlog alongside bandmate and friend Adam 'AdRock' Horowitz explaining he hadn't been feeling great and now has to have surgery and radiation. Yauch apologised for postponing their upcoming tour. The pair giggled and joked through the video, and Yauch assured Beastie Boys fans that the cancer won't affect his voice and hasn't spread.

Even so, this is the opposite of good. Yauch is everybody's favourite gravelly-voiced Beastie Boy.

Adam Yauch has assured fans that the cancer is highly treatable. But he assured the fans that they will release their latest record and play some shows. Yauch, also known as MCA in the group, is the bands' bass player and was one of the earliest members before they switched to hip hop from punk. It was announced on July 20th that the upcoming album and tour from legendary rock/rap group the Beastie Boys will have to be postponed, so that member Adam Yauch can begin treatment for cancer. Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer of the parotid gland, one of the saliva glands. It isn't terribly serious, but it does require treatment.
