Alvarez is a Cuban American based in Baltimore, a musician and visual artist who lists his musical influences as Gram Parsons, Marc Bolan, Syd Barrett, Leonard Cohen, Moondog, Chet Baker, Lou Reed, Billie Holiday, and "Doo Wop and its association with deep space".While his soft "oohs" and "ahs" are sometimes reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, he has certainly created a sound of his own.
