Provocateur Peaches gave us five minutes of her time recently. Here's what happened.
Katie Olsen: So, how are you? What’s happening with you at the moment?
Right now I'm eating some awesome German bread.
It’s always mentioned that you are a producer, DJ, singer, and provocateur – anything else you’d like to be recognised for?
Conceptual artist and great popcorn maker.
Is there anything that you’d really like to learn?
There are so many things I want to learn, but I guess since I live in Germany, I
should learn the German Language.
You’ve said your work is half Kiss, half Kate Bush, and Kiss? Still the sticking with that description, or can you feel it evolving?
said KKK, Kiss, Kraftwerk and Kate Kush. I stand by that.
You’ve said a few times that the mainstream just keeps getting closer
to what you do, so you haven’t compromised your art and it’s organically becoming better known. You don’t seem like the
kind of lady who would compromise, often or perhaps easily – have you ever?
Well, I never really had to
compromise, so no.
Your visuals are super important to your live shows – lighting, costumes, make-up, hair – can you tells us of any visual artists
or particular artworks that inspire/influence you when you’re making music?
That's a good question. John Waters, Cindy Sherman, Paul MaCarthy and the movies Tron
, Liquid Sky
and Phantom of the Paradise
Some people are offended by stuff you do, what offends you? (If you weren’t allowed to say sexism, homophobia, racism, or Nickelback.)
I'm offended by the Jonas Brothers and High School Musical
and Disney TV aesthetics.
Australia loves you, and you’re coming back to play a DJ set over summer – what can
we expect? Or is it best to expect the unexpected?
Exactly, its a chance to play hard dance music and see what happens...
Will there be spandex involved?
