Wow. Just, w-o-w. Has the Gershwin Room at The Espy ever been so jam-packed with LADIES? Doubtful. The girls had donned their Sunday best (lots of midriffs, short-shorts and cut-away action) and worked their bleached hair, hoping for a shot at Mickey. Avalon is also, it seems, a poster boy for the average white dude; the boys in the audience were all razzed up – yelling was rife and there were a few fights. But the kids went bananas for 'Mr Right', the girls shook it for 'So Rich, So Pretty' and everybody knew the words to 'Jane Fonda' and 'My Dick'. Here are some things were saw/heard/thought at The Espy on Saturday night:
1. Mickey's dancers were pretty strippery saucy. Fishnets and all.
2. It seemed none of the four ladies on stage as Boobs and Booty were mixing, but they were pretty damn hot.
3. Watching a room full of white kids rockaway to DMX doesn't happen often. But it's good when it does.
4. Where did all the boys' tee-shirts go? Really. Where?
5. Lady in the black frock with gold polka dots and '90s flip hair; you were the most styling girl in the room. Kudos.
6. There was a cast of thousands on stage. Thousands and millions.
7. Covering the Beastie Boys is dangerous and rarely works. Fact.
8. Beardo, you're a character; bet you got a groupie schtoop.
9. Boys, you are not allowed to touch girls whenever the mood takes you.
10. The Avalon Phenomenon is real. Girls lose their minds for him. Discuss.
