What happens when you give a bunch of waif-ish models a pile of cocaine, tell them that it's sherbet, put them in a room with a box of dressups from the 1700s, and let them roam around free in a giant mansion? No, it's not the script for Lindsay Lohan's latest non-film: it's Wildfox's spring 2011 lookbook.
Inspired in equal parts by Marie Antoinette, vintage couture, and lots of methamphetamines, this is one our our favourite lookbooks that the American label has produced of late. Although the surroundings may seem lush and luxurious, the collection is a lot more slouchy. Famous for their well-washed comfy tees, the models in their lookbook are just kicking back in their new digs. It's like they have woken up groggy in an abandoned castle, and are trying to roll around in as many satin cushions as they can before escaping in little more than their underwear.
There is lots of tulle, lots of cute slogan singlets, lots of textured leggings, and lots of girlish fun and giggles. It's all about excess this season for Wildfox. Looks like they're going to do a Miss Antoinette, have their cake and eat it too.
