The last time that we bumped radness with Californian men's label
Warriors of Radness, they were stuck on producing easy, peasy street/surf wear with relatively inoffensive twists. Their latest collection for American spring 2010 looks to continue this trend with a predominately relaxed, fluoro and semi-1980s-inspired range.
Like last time, when it comes to fashion-forward, mind-bendingly avant-garde, or overwhelming 'rad' surfwear... well, we're still not that sure what the label is warrior-ing against, precisely. (We're assuming it's an offensive against people who kill your 'buzz', but that is just a hunch.) But in terms of solid, marketable and slightly goofy men's clothing, this label has completely got their eyes on the prize.
Take a flick through the lookbook, and you will discover the sorts of guys who'll eat up WOR with one big spoon (and, judging by the label's stockist lists, they apparently are spooning quite a lot). He's that guy who smells like Palmer's wax, salt, and 'special herbs'. He's a 'bloke', but not afraid to embrace the odd dose of postmodern metrosexuality in the form of fluorescent pink board-shorts with suggestive messages emblazoned on the buttocks. He's in with the ladies, and doesn't mind asking them to embrace "wet places".
Blatant generalisations and social stereotyping aside, we do indeed like how Warriors of Radness have jizzed up their lookbook with a bit of quirk. A little bit of umbrella, palm trees, and mashed-up surfboard goes a long, long way. Our money is on the checkered shirts and tie-dye melted tees. We're also digging the very fun neon parkas – both a practical and rad solution to a rainy day.
