Sometimes I wish I was one of the Real Housewives of the Hamptons (no, I don't think this show actually exists) because if I were, I would dress my sons head-to-toe in preppy chic. Regardless of their age. Even if my son was a 35-year-old orthodontist, I would drag him out and parade him in front of my friends (who have less attractive sons) and eat a lobster salad. And he would love every minute.
But since I'd be a Cool Mom, I'd dress them in the super cute Swedish label Velour. The label's spring 2010 men's collection features a modern take on the classic prep-school uniform; cable knits, duffel jackets and lots of check shirts feature, complete with quirky details. And never fear prep fans, there's plenty of slim-fitting slacks to go around.
After releasing their first collection in 2005, Velour designer Per Andersson was determined not to depend on those Swedish staples – jeans – for his label's success. Without denim as the mainstay of their label, Andersson says he "can feel more free to reach the Velour aesthetic; a nonchalant, contemporary, feel-good look".
As long as my son doesn't spill on his camel chinos.
