What's that? Your bunions are screaming? They've probably heard that Australian footwear designer Tristan Blair
is back with another minxy collection for the ladies (and the men, if you happen to be such inclined). But before you book yourself a pre-emptive podiatrist appointment tout suite, have a little look-see in the attached lookbook by photographer Tomasz Machnik
. You'll quickly realise that most of these new styles are strangely... flat?
Yep, the cult designer appears to have dropped his signature towering heel in favour of something a bit more comfortable. The collection (which is shot for Japanese shores) embraces geisha-style wedges and woven sandals. But before your grandma ditches her Hush Puppies, be aware that TB hasn't exactly embraced soft foot orthoses or cloud nine padding. The majority of styles in the OnSet
collection are still overwhelmingly fashion-forward, with amazing lattice cut pieces and colourful little details.
That be said, it looks like Mr. Blair has gone in for some old fashion re-hashing. Those beautiful purple babies you spy look awfully similar to a pair seen in his Australian collection, The Lost Girls
, from last year. Other styles, such as the flat booties, aren't exactly anything spectacularly new, but it is made up for with amazing colour swatches as per usual. Sayōnara!
