Nothing quite says "Australian Summer" like white, sun-bleached sand; pretty girls in hyper-coloured bikinis, and an old potbellied man swigging on a can of VB. This season one of our favourite local swimwear labels, We Are Handsome, is celebrating all of these iconic things and more with its newly released collection,
The Romantic.
As its name suggests, the 2012 lookbook aims to celebrate that special place we've all (hopefully) been to; where you only have eyes for one person and life seems more hopeful by default. "Like a telescope where the colours are more vivid, the world seems more vibrant and stories become fairytales," says the Sydney-based label. (You'll also inevitably fob off all of your friends for months to lie in bed watching movies and schtooping.)
For designers Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers, the magic of love translates into more of the sorts of wearable gems we've come to expect from We Are Handsome. There's beach prints, more cutesy animal designs – most notably an adorable puppy face – and a newer foray into florals. All of it's good and golden, and will have you eschewing plain black two-pieces once again this season.
