UK-based Belle Sauvage is one of the few labels that creates outrageous, theatrical and loud attire that is actually wearable. Looking beyond the circus-goth make-up and extreme quiffs, the designs could belong to the slightly more adventurous dresser.
The label – by Luxembourger and Argentinian designers, Christian Neuman and Virginia Ferreira – was
established in 2008 and burst into the fashion world with
capes covered in bats and studded hoodies. Their collections have only gotten braver and bolder, while remaining on-trend (without being faddy; they were throwing down cut-out leggings two years ago) and don't delve too close to try-hard-couture.
This fall/winter collection features some bondage-esque leather, extreme lapels and shoulder pads, sharp and exaggerated tailoring, interesting takes on the shift dress, and some of the most beautiful pattered fabrics in existence – varying from tribal masked faces to black and white Buddhas to geometric rainbows.
