Not Free, But Worth Every Penny

Not Free, But Worth Every Penny

If I listened to the saccharine voice of fashion, I’d own a pair of jeans that burnt a hole in my pocket to the tune of nearly $400. To me, that seems crazy…well it did, until a few weeks ago.

This unlikely love story starts in a fitting room in Middle Park. I stood before a full-length mirror and for the first time since I was a kid (back when mum told me my bum was magical), I fancied my own ass. Now I admit it was hard to view it from every angle, but as far as I could tell, I was looking fine from behind. Any woman will tell you, that this is the Holy Grail – find jeans that improve your ass and you ain’t snuggling into anything else again.

It was the discovery of an old tin that housed grandma’s rag doll and grandpa’s jeans that sparked a denim range to end them all. Lone Baron Free. Erin Rendic and Angie Scanlon are the masterminds behind the Melbourne designed and made brand, “The first range reflects our desire to create more than just a jean,” says Erin. “We wanted to make an entire package that represents all that’s inspired us.” The duo have poured love into every stitch of the brand. It’s this coupled with a superior product that makes the retail price (between $299 and $325) seem like a bargain.

The range is small, with only three styles, The Tom Cat (slouchy boy fit), The Alby (straight and sleek) and The Prowler (a unique carrot-leg fit). Your new pair of LBFs comes served in a replica of the tin that started it all, complete with old family snap shots and grandma’s rag doll.

I’m no ass kisser, but these jeans are worth the praise. After all, they did put the magic back in my…errr…bum.

Available from Jade Emporium 353 Inkerman St, St Kilda; Filly & Mare 15 Armstrong St, Middle Park (Melbourne) and Capital L333 Dowling St, Darlinghurst (Sydney). Keep your eye on the website  www.lonebarronfree.com for the 4th style The Stinger, in stores end of April.
