We'd been looking for a way to homage Michael Jackson in an appropriately fashionable way for some time since his death. Unfortunately, chimpanzee fur coats just didn't cut it (Bubbles got sad). Now we've seen New Zealand label Blak's latest collections for autumn/winter 2011, we can safely rest knowing we've found it: a full-length dazzling red bodysuit a la MJ in his epic
Thriller video.
Spooky incantations aside, this Kiwi label's second offering for both the Luxe and Basics ranges are deliciously easy, misty and feminine. There's some more subdued lace brocade pieces in black as well as the signature red, and a range of different staples such as oversized sweaters, capes and the requisite animal print for the season, leopard (it never gets old, does it?).
The result is two complimentary collections,
Skin and
Deep, which don't reinvent the wheel, but offer up an amazing wardrobe of delish pieces for the little lady in us all. Clicking through the two lookbooks is like the fashion equivalent of being Meryl Streep in
Sophie's Choice (OK, perhaps not that dramatic, but you get the drift).
Should you have that sheer pink long dress, those knee-cut detail leggings, or maybe
seven pairs of high-waisted puffy leather shorts (one for each day of the week)? Too many awesome choices sometimes give us a headache.
