If Hellz Bellz designer Lanie A-B and Ali G had a love child, K1X Shorty would probably be the result. This women’s apparel diffusion line by men’s label K1X is half-smut, half-chav, and all feminine fun and games.
The diffusion debuted in 2009 featuring ballerinas and pole-dancers – including the lovely Ashlee Desire (real name!) – as models. What began as an inaugural line for female dancers is today a fully-fledged sportswear line for females – and it’s arguably better than its male counterpart, too.
The usual suspects are here for winter 2011, such as hoodies, sweatpants, and tees in bold colour palettes. There’s still a “sassy tip of the hat to the buckwild nature of dance culture” as the models rollerblade through Berlin, all the whilst sucking on lollipops, sunglasses, yogurt and anything else that can be taken as mildly orally suggestive.
K1X’s main men’s line have been busy in the land of sauerkraut recently, with a sneaker collaboration with Germany’s Patrick Mohr as well as European magazine Streetwear Today. The latter included the work of Parisian artist Yue Wu aka Nyno
