Did somebody just say Quiff? No, not
quief, you nancy - don't you know the difference between a cult rockabilly hairstyle and a fanny-fart? Japanese label Deluxe sure does: their clothing is very manly, very rogue, and is most certainly not for pussies.
The relatively new label recently released their 2010 collection entitled
1956. As the name and the clothes indicate, the collection is influenced by 1950s masculine culture and the radness of rockabilly. The result is something sure to get many of today's men wanting sleeve tatts and a precariously placed waterfall-inspired hairstyle (accompanied by the carrying of a black comb in the front shirt pocket).
Hawaiian shirts, high-chinos and two-toned brogues all ask one pertinent question: Would you, in fact, like to go ten-pin bowling in Florida?
Spiked glasses, animal-print golfing hats (amazing!) and collared polo tees, however, pose something else: Would you like to drive my golf buggy? Now, whichever very dangerous and manly leisure sport you chose, you can be certain of one thing: you will be listening to Buddy Holly.
Distribution is limited in Australia, but the whole lovely thing makes for a completely wearable yet edgy range that one can pick up in a jiffy at the
online store. So slip on those squeaky bowling shoes you stole from the local alley, mix yourself up a cherry-cola spider, and get a-clicking.
