We featured Australian label
Black Milk earlier in the year back when it was still in its youth and the leggings trend was at its prime. Today, designer James Lillis has found her production feet with stockists across the country, and it also looks like that camel-toe-inducing trend ain’t going many places, either (although there do appear to be a few signs of fashionable wear-and-tear, primarily around the crotchal-region).
Like other skin-tight labels we’ve profiled recently such as
Tight Tigers, Black Milk prefers their leggings loud, proud, insane and hip-flab-baringly tight. Looking at the latest for summer 2010-11, you may regret all those Tim Tams you ate over the more forgiving winter period. You
could just go on a diet (shudder) to remedy this, or alternatively we suggest you pop on a pair of Black Milk’s wet-look pantyhose. These latex babies – complete with feet – will have you sweating off that excess puppy fat in no time.
Self-made saunas aside, the latest looks from Black Milk are indeed quite amazingly rad. The Mini Skulls, Helvetica and Black Ribs Bodysuit are where the money is at, with enough shiny happiness to make your inner disco ball sing. There’s an even bigger emphasis on illustrative design print with these latest pieces, with lighting bolts and the requisite animal print to rear in this season’s trends.
There’s also a vast array of bodysuits in the same vein as
We Are Handsome, and so many other pieces that we are actually quite overwhelmed with awesomeness. Just in case you can’t get enough, however, James has herself
an extensive blog on this fashion trend that will probably one day end up referenced in a postgraduate thesis entitled
Leggings: a Complete History of the Evolution of the Camel-Toe.
