Cult Australian (but sadly London-based) label
ANT!PODiUM, AKA Geoffrey J. Finch's latest autumn/winter 2010 collection,
Ab-Fab, is a celebration of indigenous Australian culture in all of its beauty. Collaborating with a group of Aboriginal artists from the remote Yamiji region surrounding Geraldton in Western Australia, the collection is a plethora of dreamy beauties with bursts of brights and earthy goodness.
Exclusive prints and knits by Barbara Merritt, Manapa Butler, Ruby McIntosh and Roy Merritt are clearly stand-outs, however there’s also some amazing glitter and animal print textures in there as well. Leopard print isn’t exactly Australiana – unless you believe those long-circulating rumours on
Today Tonight about feral big cats wandering around the outback – but it does make for an amazing couple of pieces. We’re also strangely partial to that tea-cosy beanie.
