New York label Alex & Eli is, in the words of designers Anna Zeman and Aja Singer, a "line of suiting for women inspired by iconic men".
Since starting the collaborative label in January 2008 after meeting at New York's Parsons Design School, Zeman and Singer's combined science backgrounds (anatomy and biochemistry respectively) have resulted in a meticulous approach to the science of the garment. Discarding of excessive frills and bows for a more refined simplicity, the label still manages to combine masculine looks with a school girl energy.
Drawing on their collective design experience at Carolina Herrera, Zac Posen and Rodarte, the label "provides an urban sartorial wardrobe to a woman of confidence and individual beauty". With an obsession with tailoring and the perfect fit, Alex & Eli embraces understated tailoring and super clean silhouettes.
Their latest collection features mix and match suits, cropped shorts, two tone jackets and some seriously tapered shirts. Oh, and some awesome colours: lilac, fuschia, neon orange and some delicious shade that could only be interpreted as 'pale mandarin has a chance encounter with faded coral' all bring this collection to life.
