Influenced by Japanese, American and European cultures, Japanese photographer Maki Kawakita's images are very diverse; cartoonish, saucy, sweet, cheeky and risky. Working on fashion photography, conceptual and artistic, as well as portraits of celebrities like Missy Elliott and Beyonce, Kawakita has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tama University in Tokyo and is a guest lecturer at art colleges in Tokyo, Philadelphia and New York.
