Nolan Miller, the costume designer for iconic '80s tv series Dynasty, sadly passed away last week. That name may not mean much to you, but Miller was one of the most important forecasters of the '80s.
To recognise his influence you need to understand the power of Dynasty, a wonderful drama about the filthy rich Carrington family who were constantly lying, cheating and stabbing each other in the back (if you don't know it, ask your mum. She loved that shit). Apart from rating its ass off (see the "Moldavian massacre" episode NOW) it also sparked massive fashion trends with more sequins, shoulder pads and Peter Pan collars than your cousin's Bar Mitvah circa '93.
