Bill Murray and Kelly Lynch (star of many an 80s flick including
Road House,
Cocktail,
Drugstore Cowboy,
Curly Sue and 2000's
Charlie's Angels) are friends. In
Road House, Lynch has sex with Patrick Swayze. Now every time
Road House is screened and Murray or one of his two brothers are watching, no matter what time or where they are, they call Lynch's husband (who is also a good friend of Murray's and the dude who wrote
Scrooged) and tell him that his wife is having sex with Swayze. They even describe the events of the scene as they unfold. They do this all the time.
How do we know? Lynch told the A.V. Club in
an interview they did with her recently.
"Speaking of Bill Murray, every time Road House is on and he or one of his idiot brothers are watching TV — and they’re always watching TV — one of them calls my husband and says [In a reasonable approximation of Carl Spackler], “Kelly’s having sex with Patrick Swayze right now. They’re doing it. He’s throwing her against the rocks.” [Away from the receiver.] What? Oh, my God. Mitch was just walking out the door to the set, and he said that Bill once called him from Russia."
