It's Nice That made a zine called If Drawings Were Photographs. It's really funny, sweet and an interesting way of looking at the world. The world and dogs, stools, faces and stuff.

From the site: "The brainchild of designer Rob Matthews and Illustrator Tom Edwards, put simply – 'Tom gave drawings to Rob and Rob tried to make them into photographs.'" Check it out at www.itsnicethat.com.

This is all over the internet in the UK at the moment, thanks to It's Nice That. But really, I just don't get why people are making so much fuss about it. It might be a simple idea that not many people have done before in such a defined way as this (and yes, it's been done before) — but there's no depth to it, no strong concept, and yet it's all over design blogs. In my opinion, it's a complete dumbing down of design. There's simply nothing to it other than a nice drawing and a photograph similar to that of the drawing. And..??

Whether it's a entirely unique concept or not, I think it's pretty endearing. Sometimes the best ideas are simple and not overly intellectualised.

I agree with you, Katie. However, I'm surprised to see that this particular project has attracted so much attention. Although no doubt it has a lot to do with It's Nice That, seeing as everything they post gets instant approval or you must somehow be completely retarded and out of touch.

That's the wonderful thing about not being a designer and frequenting sites that have a lot to do with high-end design and fashion. I get to say retarded things like "that's pretty" without the inhibitions of taste or a formalised design educamacation.
