Win a double pass to smalltown with Moodymann

BLOG POSTED BY LIFELOUNGESTAFF ON 04 MAR 2013 @ 10:39 AM
Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann is without a doubt one of the most enigmatic and influential figures that house music ever bred. Despite his refusal to give interviews and play the press-and-promo game, Kenny’s voice has been clearly amongst the loudest. His staunch and unwavering mission to preserve the rich heritage of Afro-American music while fighting the music industry powers that be has given him legendary status. Blessed with an immaculate way of sampling, he takes stems from blues and soul, and respectfully takes them onto the next level – just check his 'Tribute! (To The Soul We Lost)' ode to Marvin Gaye for proof. From his dark and dusty deep house tunes on Peacefrog, Planet E and his own KDJ label, to his more recent outings on the R&B-drenched Mahogani Music imprint as well as his 2009 sure-fire anthem "Freaky MF", Moodymann's fingerprint has stayed unmistakable.

The man himself is doing his thang at The Prince Bandroom as a sideshow to his Golden Plains set and we got a double pass to give away to one lucky lounger out there.

TO WIN:

All you gotta do is tell email your name and your favorite Moodyman track to editor@lifelounge.com to be in the running to score yourself tickets to one of the hottest gigs of the year.

GOOD LUCK!!

Win a double pass to New Eden - Return To Paradise

BLOG POSTED BY LIFELOUNGESTAFF ON 13 DEC 2012 @ 11:01 AM
The time has come again for the Melbourne and Sydney dance community to unite in a throbbing sweaty mass at Melbourne's home of late night hedonism, New Guernica, for the bi-tri-quad monthly Road House and Slow Blow extravaganza, New Eden - Return To Paradise.

It's a bit of a Modular/Motorik showcase this month with a couple of special guests on board to really keep the jive alive.

SLOW BLOW (Modular/Syd)
SOFT WAR (Modular/Syd)
OTOLOGIC (Modular/Meredith)
DJ BUTTFUCK (Motorik/Hoodrat/Syd)
JOBIN (Your hostesses with the mostestes)

These parties are always madness and need to be experienced in order to fully understand.

If you and a mate wanna hit it up for free, then shoot your name to editor@lifelounge.com

And coz they're such awesome legends, Slow Blow have concocted a lovely little mix for the occasion to get your juices flowing and the sap rising.

WIN A DOUBLE PASS TO SEE THE CARTER BROS

BLOG POSTED BY LIFELOUNGESTAFF ON 01 AUG 2012 @ 10:03 AM
Born from a stone egg on a mountain top; forged in the hot furnace of middle earth; cool with an icy touch. South Australian duo Carter Bros have been producing for the best part of a decade, and a string of successful releases over the past few years have put them firmly on the underground electronic map.

With releases such as the epic “Full Disco Jacket” on Dutch label Rush Hour, along with “Wild Cats” on Detroit-based label Black Catalogue, the brothers (yes, they really are brothers!) have emerged as two of Australia’s true production heavyweights. But that’s not all. Theses guys have an infamous reputation as dance floor mad-scientists and their 3.5 hour set atop the New Guernica organ is sure to produce a proper party which we have a DOUBLE PASS FOR TO GIVE Y'ALL FOR ANSWERING ONE SIMPLE QUESTION!!!

TO WIN:

All you gotta do is email the answer to the following question to editor@lifelounge.com and we'll draw the winner on Friday @ 12pm.

WHICH AUSTRALIAN CITY DO THE CARTER BROS HAIL FROM???

Who Gives A Crap

BLOG POSTED BY LIFELOUNGESTAFF ON 10 JUL 2012 @ 11:27 AM
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Not having a toilet would be a really bad thing. Imagine not having the access to basic sanitation; no clean running water, no sewerage system, no nothing. It's a very real problem that 2.4 billion people people (that's nearly 40% of the world's population) face every day. It's responsible for the deaths of 4,000 children under the age of five EVERY DAY. Yep, it's not good, and if finding a solution seems like a mission impossible then don't don't sweat it too hard coz there's some peeps out there who gettin' all Ethan Hunt on it.

Enter Simon Griffiths. The Co-Founder and CEO of the social enterprise bizz Good Goods has today launched it's crowdfunding campaign for the philanthropic toilet paper company Who Gives A Crap. WGAC will be giving 50% of its profits to build toilets for the people around the globe who need 'em, badly. What a rad dude, huh? Wait, it gets better

Part of Simon's master plan is to literally sit on a toilet until the campaign raises its first $50,000 on IndieGoGo, the global equivalent of Kickstarter. The $50,000 will go towards producing the initial run of WGAC dunny roll aptly named First Edition. Those who support the cause will be able to pre-order the product as well score extra rewards.

So, if you

A) Wanna help those in need
B) Be a part of something really clever and globally awesome
C) Help a dude get off the can

Jump onto whogivesacrap.org/launch to check out all the details and to get on board. Also, if you're keen to get keep up to date on Simon's well being, you can hit up the webcam at whogivesacrap.org for a live feed. Don't worry though, "no bad angles" is a promise...
