I love creating, that’s pretty much it. Painting, photography, type, design and architecture all float my boat so this blog will be filled with images that reflect the things I like. Hope you enjoy my time here.

Ink Dots Black Spots exhibition

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 16 AUG 2012 @ 02:45 PM
Tonight sees the first Ink Dots Black Spots exhibition at the Vic Bar (281 Victoria St, Abbotsford), there will be a stack of top shelf artwork for sale at very reasonable prices with the guys all pitching in to raise some funds for Cancer Council Victoria. Definitely a chance to grab some amazing art (they have 50 artists from 15 tattoo studios!) while helping the fight against cancer.

OZ Comic Con 2012

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 02 JUL 2012 @ 06:19 PM
This weekend saw Melbourne swamped with Stormtroopers, Sailor Moons, The cast of the Avengers and pretty much any other comic superhero you can think of, plus a hefty bunch of ones you never knew existed. The main draw cards were Stan Lee (Marvel) and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek). Anyone who knows comics has heard of Stan Lee, he created or was part of the creation of most of the superheroes & villains that exist as movie characters today. At 89 years old he was full of life and spent an hour conversing with fans that were understandably super nervous about speaking with their life-long hero.

Walking around the packed event was tricky, but the costumes were crazy, the collectables were tempting and it definitely hit the kid strings. If they plan it a little better next year and deal with the teething problems of a first year event I'll go again for sure.

These guys were everywhere.

The toy range was insane, this classic Jaba being strangled by Leia was a standout.

This was a dude... I hope they aren't his kids or they will be talking about this excursion to a therapist someday.

The robot from Transformers has only got one arm.

Stan Lee, we're so lucky he had a translator on stage to convert Aussie to American, no joke.

Da Mental Vaporz Crew show at Rtist Gallery tonight

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 16 FEB 2012 @ 12:17 PM
So the DMV Crew (Bom-K, Blo, Brusk, Dran, Gris1, ISO, Jaw, Kan, and Sowat) from France have flown in to have a show at Rtist Gallery this evening and I kid you not when I say it will be nothing less than amazing. These guys have been killing it for a while now and I am actually honored that they have come to Melbourne to show some new unseen work (when they could show it in London or Paris, sell it all and not have to spend 20hrs on a flight over here). Here's a few teaser pictures (courtesy of Butterfly) of the work and a video that they made for the show – do yourself a favor, if you only go to one art show this year, make it this one.

Swoop and Melodie by Taj Alexander AKA Deams

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 11 OCT 2011 @ 01:36 PM
Friday night saw the opening night of Taj Alexander's solo exhibition at Rtist gallery in Prahran. Taj (AKA Deams in the graffiti world) has always had a graffiti style which contains many aspects of graphic design and the work at this show was a superb showcase of his current style in its prime. The show is open Tuesday – Sunday (9am – 6pm) and runs until Sunday 23rd October at 29 St Edmonds Rd, Prahran.

Seasons of Change RDC recap

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 23 SEP 2011 @ 02:06 PM
A few weeks back saw the first instalment of Revolver's Seasons of Change one night graffiti events. First up were the legendary Jors & Shem of RDC (Royal deviates Crew), which once announced caused a flurry of excitement. These guys created an impressive body of work, including painting the outside wall to look like an old Hitachi train complete with classic B-Bpy characters and wildstyle pieces that could rival even the greatest work to come out of New York since the golden era.

To those who were lucky enough to buy work on the night, treasure those pieces, they were selling for well below their worth and big things will be happening with these guys in the near future.

Here is a little teaser clip I made for the guys in the lead up to the show and a few pics from the night.

Shem vs Bodé

The train

Amazing marker skills

The detail on this is ridiculous, check the wood grain behind his head

Cozzabags Boganics

BLOG POSTED BY JONAS ON 07 JUL 2011 @ 06:24 PM

I'm not one to listen to much hip-hop these days, especially anything that has been released recently. But my mate Cozzabags (an Aussie living in London) has just fulfilled a long time dream and actually recorded a hip-hop album. I kid you not... he used Samples from music and comedy most of us would have heard growing up. Seriously, when was the last time you heard Kevin Bloody Wilson? He calls it "a tribute to all 80s and 90s stuff", which these days is the preferred chunk of music I like to listen to along with a pinch of 70's stuff. If you want to hear a few tracks that might even make you laugh here's a link to the whole album for FREE. Track 2 "Fire" is a personal favorite  ;)

His deets for the info seekers.
Originally from Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs Cozzabags was a part of the city’s vibrant graffiti scene in the 90’s and 00’s. He also DJ’d in small Melbourne clubs during the burgeoning Hip Hop scenes earliest days. His first influences were Funk, US Hip Hop and seeing local punk & hardcore bands perform in community halls in Melbourne’s outer East. His unusual influences are often reflected in his music whilst still giving a tip of the cap to Old-School Hip Hop.

Lyrically Cozzabags is poignant, often cynical but always earnest. Whilst some tracks delve into the political arena, the general sound is brash, upbeat and a light hearted take on things, but if Cozzabags’s influences tell any kind of story it’s just beats ‘n’ rhymes. It’s apologetically Australian and it was born in London.

He's also made a video for the track "Better than you" which is on Youtube here, it's a big diss to Hollywood, people making fun of celebrities always makes me laugh, I'm so cruel.
