Mathew Newton - a.k.a. that spindly, repulsive character of dubious talent who is on our airwaves because he has a famous father - is once again in the news today for violence against women. It was just annouced that his girlfriend has
taken an AVO out against him for multiple incidents of assault.
Hmm. Call me crazy, but it sounds like we've heard this somewhere before.... But, of course, his convicted assault of another ex-girlfriend, actress Brooke Satchwell, in 2007 was just a "once-off" incident, right???
The saddest thing is that Newton could have been used as a spokesperson for violence against women years ago IF he'd perhaps gotten adequate help and was honest about his obvious disdain towards women.
Instead, the publicity machine smoothed it all over
with a fake plastic grin and a couple of really sub-par acting slots on Underbelly and The X Factor (who luckily dumped him this week).
Lo and behold, he's done it again. Let's hope his family name and snivelling publicists can't stop his career prominently receding (along with his hairline) this time around.
