Open your city with the Heineken Chauffeur powered by Uber

BLOG POSTED BY TRAN ON 06 OCT 2014 @ 10:58 AM

Here’s the short of it: if you have trouble making decisions on where to go on nights out and want free Heineken beer, sign up to Uber and get on the Heineken Chauffeur. It runs until November 29. Find more about it right here.

And here’s the long review if you’re keen…

---

Last Friday night, I decided to put the fate of my evening in the hands of the Heineken Chauffeur powered by Uber. I rounded my troops of 3 compadres and told them to expect a night of ridiculousness in Melbourne.

I opened up the app, entered OPENYOURCITY promo code, and booked a Heineken Chauffeur, and BOOM, secured a ride immediately.

#Winning

A mysterious black Chrysler rocked up, and there was my driver, the very quiet “Frank”. Was I being kidnapped? I don’t know but it felt very weird hopping into a car and not knowing where it was going.

Anyway, quiet Frank remains quiet, and ignores our questions of where he was taking us. It wasn’t long ‘til he dropped us off at The Emerson in South Yarra and there we were welcomed by a super enthusiastic little lady, who gave my crew and I some free Heineken beer. And that was it.

Not totally feeling the vibe of The Emerson, I got my mate to book another Heineken Chauffeur; only this time it took a lot longer to secure. However, through the power of determination, we eventually got another ride.

#Yaaassss

Greg, our second driver, rocked up in a swanky Mercedes, and boy, he was hilarious. 5 stars to Greg! Ol’ mate, Greg, took us to The Workers Club in Fitzroy to see a “sold out” gig but we eventually learnt the gig was free. C’mon now… how can you “sell out” a gig when it was free to begin with? Anyway, we downed a few more beers, watched Husky perform for a few tracks. They sounded good.

Sadly, it was past 9pm, so no more Heineken Chauffeurs. So, we hopped into a cab (sorry, Uber) and headed into town to do our own thang.

The Heineken Chauffeur experience was a lot of fun - for us, it was definitely more about the journey than the destination. Grab a fun crew, let Uber kick start your evening, and you're guaranteed to have a great time... mainly cos you'll be drunk. Worth it.

My Adidas cuts the sand of a foreign land

BLOG POSTED BY TRAN ON 02 SEP 2014 @ 02:41 PM

Remember that day when you first heard Run DMC’s My Adidas and realised you’ve been pronouncing “adidas” wrong all your life? Yep, horrifying. And in this moment of awkwardness you also realised you needed a pair of Adidas too, right? Right.

If you still don’t have a pair, fret not.

Adidas Originals will have you covered with their awesome classic range of sneakers. Going beyond comfort, Adidas Originals are fitting for many occasions. For instance, you can like… walk the dog in them, go for a run, loiter around places in them, etc. Plus, they look super cool.

Feast your eyes on these kicks:

Wrap your ears around ‘Reverse’ from SomeKindaWonderful

BLOG POSTED BY TRAN ON 27 AUG 2014 @ 05:48 PM

Spare yourself a few minutes and have a listen to Reverse the latest release from US band, SomeKindaWonderful.

This is Novel Nature

BLOG POSTED BY TRAN ON 13 AUG 2014 @ 01:32 PM
Novel Nature is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. The two-piece is comprised of Shane Lance and Emerson Shotwell. At its core, Novel Nature's music features Lance's dynamic vocals and soaring melodies, and Shotwell's powerful, swaying rhythms - combining to create a sound that's unique, and full of arena-ready anthems.

In short, they sound great and you need to listen to them.

I was introduced to the band when a friend was collecting some tunes for her road trip playlist, and have been playing their EP Nylon Nation ever since. And with the power of the interwebs, you can stream it online via Soundcloud.

Also check out Novel Nature’s video for 1937 which was filmed on an iPhone!

Give Novel Nature the thumbs-up on their Facebook page.

Was Rmx of Go Dugong

BLOG POSTED BY PASHONCOOP ON 14 MAR 2014 @ 09:40 PM
was

Italian producer  Go Dugong released Was in December and S&M posted it with vigor due to the respectable quality of Go Dugong's production work.  My fondness of Was from the LebensStrasse Records artist kept me pressing play, so when I found out that five of his producer friends remixed the Was EP; I had to post it.  Plus the sun is shining on us here in the North Hemisphere and Was is a perfect chillwave, glitch hop and lofi experience that's great to get us ready for spring.

Bummer Songs for Summer Blondes

BLOG POSTED BY PASHONCOOP ON 31 DEC 2013 @ 02:19 PM

Oakland band Summer Blonde has some Bummer Songs for your swell and toasty summer. Looks like it's been two years since they've put anything out (hope I'm wrong). In these cases it's good just to enjoy the surfer-rock n roll goodness and not fret about when the next album is going to come out, or when can you see them live. Seems Summer Blondes recently put their music on bandcamp.  If you dig this album then check out Vacation to Mutation.
