Rotterdam: Album Launch At The Butterfly Club
Mandy van Zanen did her Bachelor of Music in classical voice at Melbourne Uni. At around the same time, in Nottingham, U.K. Scott Armstrong was doing his degree on the punk/ska scene. He also sold a generator to the current Lord Melbourne.
When they finally met in Rotterdam, Holland in 2010, it was clear that their creative children were going to be missing a chromosome or two.
You see, these two just can’t make up their minds. So they don’t. PR machines dislike something as unmarketable as the genre-bending debut album they have come up with - it makes them the musical equivalent of homeless. It does, however, with some creative script-writing, some unlikely guest artists and audience members who probably have nothing in common with each other, make for what can loosely be termed a cabaret show!
Please join them in celebrating their launch trifecta – a new album, their first music video, and themselves!
Included in the ticket price is a copy of their album, a quirky collection of 13 tracks with influences from ska, latin pop, contemporary classical, techno soul, piano ballad, the middle east, a capella close harmony, AC/DC and a cover of Burt Bacharach’s ‘The Look of Love’ for bass, vibraphone and voice - it’s safe to say there will be something for everyone!
Dates/time: Thurs 14, Fri 15 June at 9pm, 17 June at 8pm
