Here’s the short of it: if you have trouble making decisions on where to go on nights out and want free Heineken beer, sign up to Uber and get on the Heineken Chauffeur. It runs until November 29. Find more about it right here
And here’s the long review if you’re keen…
Last Friday night, I decided to put the fate of my evening in the hands of the Heineken Chauffeur powered by Uber. I rounded my troops of 3 compadres and told them to expect a night of ridiculousness in Melbourne.
I opened up the app, entered OPENYOURCITY
promo code, and booked a Heineken Chauffeur, and BOOM, secured a ride immediately.
A mysterious black Chrysler rocked up, and there was my driver, the very quiet “Frank”. Was I being kidnapped? I don’t know but it felt very weird hopping into a car and not knowing where it was going.
Anyway, quiet Frank remains quiet, and ignores our questions of where he was taking us. It wasn’t long ‘til he dropped us off at The Emerson in South Yarra and there we were welcomed by a super enthusiastic little lady, who gave my crew and I some free Heineken beer. And that was it.
Not totally feeling the vibe of The Emerson, I got my mate to book another Heineken Chauffeur; only this time it took a lot longer to secure. However, through the power of determination, we eventually got another ride.
Greg, our second driver, rocked up in a swanky Mercedes, and boy, he was hilarious. 5 stars to Greg! Ol’ mate, Greg, took us to The Workers Club in Fitzroy to see a “sold out” gig but we eventually learnt the gig was free. C’mon now… how can you “sell out” a gig when it was free to begin with? Anyway, we downed a few more beers, watched Husky perform for a few tracks. They sounded good.
Sadly, it was past 9pm, so no more Heineken Chauffeurs. So, we hopped into a cab (sorry, Uber) and headed into town to do our own thang.
The Heineken Chauffeur experience was a lot of fun - for us, it was definitely more about the journey than the destination. Grab a fun crew, let Uber kick start your evening, and you're guaranteed to have a great time... mainly cos you'll be drunk. Worth it.
