Discovering the wonderful universe of Adolie Day is like
uncovering that octopus's garden in the shade the Beatles
sang about, that is unless that garden is some wired
euphemism for sex which I always kind of though it might
be. Whatever though, let’s just assume that an octopuses
garden is a really cool, magical place where all sorts of
magnificent things can be found. Like the beautiful work
of Adolie Day, a French artist who captures the world
around her with a fanciful sweetness.
Yet not only does this busy little bee bring to life
whimsical and beautiful pixie like waifs and strays
through her illustrations, but she designs textiles for
children’s clothing for Kenzo kids and Catimini, and she
also illustrates for children’s books edited by La
Marelle.
At home in France she is currently preparing for
exhibitions to be held in France and the US later this
year, so if you happen to be in the area you can check out
Adoli’es work in person at the following venues: October
at INSPIRATIONS in Nantes, France; November at the Subtex
Gallery in San Diego USA for the ‘Kokeshi Show’; and in
December at Les Damoiselles in Nantes, France.
