Sylvia Ji's paintings, with all their grim and morbid undertones, are reflections of herself. Her images are lush landscapes, rainbows of colour, with curvy women who are beautiful, spirited and "brimming with sexual provocation" but also have an air of darkness about them. Basically, if you saw one of her ladies in real life, you'd probably be too intimidated to talk to her. Our favourite might be the girl with the Day of the Dead-esque face-paint.
Ji receieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art in San Francisco and her works have been exhibited across the US.
