Recognising the suffering "brand perception" and "credibility" of a
post Dubya era USA and likening the current status of the country to a
company teetering on bankruptcy, Paper Magazine have come up with an
idea to make a difference - Rebranding America. They've invited some
of the country's finest creative minds and visual communicators to
create original advertising concepts that could redefine the country's
image. Pretty much the ultimate gig.
The creatives involved include
Alex Bogusky, Andy Spade and Anthony Sperduti,
Mike Mills; Alex Kalman, Chris Johanson, W+K12; Geoff McFetridge, Ivan
Chermayeff, Jonathan Horowitz; Kevin Roberts, Stephen Powers, Ron
English; Shepard Fairey, Peter Buchanan-Smith and The Bruce High Quality
Foundation. An intersting mix of creative approaches.

Such a great concept. On a much smaller scale, and this might come
across a bit of a rant (but I've got the mic so hear me out) I've
always loved the idea of creating a design project based around a
street notorious for crap and offensive signage. How awesome would it
be if a large group of designers and artists (with the blessing of the
council and residents) chose a street and rebranded every single shop,
restaurant, cafe, bank.... everything? Even if it was only there for a
couple of weeks. Melbourne let me know if you're into it and we'll make
it happen... Seriously. Discuss?
