In a honkytonk down in Mexico, Raudiel Sanudo creates illustrations that draw heavily on themes of death, nature and wrestling. OK, so maybe he doesn't actually create them in Mexico, but his art sure does reflect the themes and culture of his heritage.
From his studio in TJ, Sanudo draws patterned skulls with rose halos, dark haired beauties looking shifty in flea markets, and ah, an owl wearing a Slayer tee-shirt and holding a dead rat (we never said his art was straight-forward). Apart from the Mexican influence, Sanudo’s acrylic paintings also include recurring natural elements, probably because of the time he lived in the woods of Wisconsin. You know how it is.
He also paints on sneakers and skateboards. In a honkytonk, down in Mexico.
