When designers throw practicality out the window and replace it with a mixture of futurism and classic pop culture, they win the Lifelounge seal of approval (a knowing nod and a high five if we ever meet them). And people, that's worth heaps.
UK designer Dominic Wilcox's No Place Like Home shoes are a prime example of what we're talking about. He's taken a snazzy pair of leather shoes and installed a GPS system that gives directions to the wearer's destination via LED lights in the toes. All you gotta do is upload the directions via USB and, wait for it, click your heels together to activate it. Yep. Like we said, practicality chucked straight out the window. But still awesome.
