Luis Dourado's mixed media artworks are pretty amazing. The series entitled
Essays is a bunch of pages torn out of books and decorated with textas, paints and stickers in a nonchalant way that kind of shouldn't look quite as incredible as they do. His series
Into Space is chopped up and trippy and wil give you weird nightmares. But it's
Famous Are Dreaming that is the real genius; it's a collection of images of famous people whose faces are covered in plumes of smoke – sounds simple enough, but they warrant an audible "WOW!"
The Portugal-born artist studied product design and since moved to Berlin where he works on a bunch of different visual art projects. Dourado says that his work is "never loyal to any specific technique", but bounces between digital and analogue exploring themes like "control, memory and illusion". Like Oscar Wilde said: "Illusion is the first of all pleasures."
