Kelly Thompson draws and photographs pretty girls. Hailing from New Zealand, Thompson completed a Bachelor of Design at Massey University in Wellington and has since created work for the likes of Mimco, Spicers Paper, NZ Opera and altogether adorable label Lonely Hearts. More than that, her work has been featured in numerous publications, including Yen Magazine and Curvy. Plus! She was invited to speak at the design conference Semi-Permanent earlier this year, and prints upon prints are available to purchase via her website. The woman is talented.
Thompson’s work is imbued with sensitivity and beauty. In both line work and colour choices, she manages to speak volumes with not a whole heap of obvious detail. Having said that, you’ll probably do a double take or two, trying to work out which are photographs and which are drawings.
Particular favourites are illustrations so casually sexy they’ll have you staring for much longer than is appropriate. To add the cherry on top, there are plenty of beauties in glasses, proving just how cool nerdy is.
