Toronto-based artist Jessica Fortner has some pretty great skills. She's created editorial illustrations for the like of the Washington Post and designed colourful gems for wallets, album cover art, and a bunch of other bits and pieces in-between.
Fortner's work is a little cartoon-ish and playful, but usually has a bunch of more sinister undertones. And always lots of detail and intricate patterns. She's worked closely with the awesome gang at booooooom, and there's a great interview online there right now:
