Jennifer Maestre Pencil Sculptures
Jennifer Maestre, while clearly talented, kind of upsets the nine year-old in me. All those beautifully sharpened, and colourful pencils; all chopped up and never to be used for colouring in crap drawings of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

But once you really look at the amazing amount of meticulous work and patience and time that this lady puts into her art, you forgive her. And you can see that she too loses her shit at the sight of a fresh new box of 120 Derwents, just in a different way.

Jennifer apparently says "Pencils are common objects, but here, these anonymous objects become the structure". Aha, the medium becomes the art. It's ingenious!

Found via the clever people at woostercollective.com, and you can see more at jennifermaestre.com.
