New York-based illustrator, Robert Longo's pieces are singular in focus and
whatever it is that he attempts to illustrate, he does so with
technical precision. He works successfully in many mediums but it's his
charcoal renderings that are particularly interesting.
Primarily using
dark backdrops he illustrates the detail of a single, albeit random,
subject such as the engulfing jaws of a shark, the ample cleavage of a
mysterious woman and a series of amazing jet pilot helmets with
reference throwbacks from
Top Gun and Stanley Kubrick's
2001: A Space
Odyssey. Awesome work.
