Illustration is Janice Wu’s thing. She may still be a student, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vancouver, but that hasn’t stopped the development of an awfully professional looking portfolio, something that will no doubt be perused a great many times in the years to come.
As you browse through her work you will be met with an array of beautifully rendered, lovingly detailed illustrations. We’re not joking, Wu’s work is precise to the point of being a little bit freaky, but is simultaneously never without a touch of the hand that created them.
Each piece may be depicting relatively mundane things – receipts, matchsticks, those little square things that keep your bread trapped in its plastic bag – but she inspires a certain something in the everyday. Indeed, Wu strives to find a little magic in the most unexpected of places.
