Don Pendleton is probably best known for his work with Element skateboard decks, but also creates awesome paintings on canvases too. Pendleton sounds like an interesting character; he goes to sleep after daybreak, is 'post-goth', was a professional skater, and recently, a complete stranger emailed him asking Pendleton to tattoo him. So Don Pendleton agreed. Kind of, since he's not actually a qualified tattoo artist, he drew a design on the guy's arm and got somebody else to ink it.
Stories aside though, Pendleton's artworks are pretty fabulous. Colourful and thoughtful and sometimes a little tragic, you can have you're very own painting if you visit
elephont.com. You can see Pendleton's skateboard archive, check out artworks for sale, and a mini-blog-thing from the man himself. (That's where we got the tattoo story, you can see photos of the finished product there too). Warning though, when I visited most of the paintings were already sold.
This gallery of some of Mr Pendleton's paintings was found at
mumblemagazine.com (which is a super web destination). Enjoy.
