Juan Francisco Casas was probably the first person in his fourth grade class to get his pen license. Growing up in the little town of Jaen in southern Spain, his teenage habit of doodling while he was daydreaming has turned him into an international award winning artist.
All of his pieces are drawn exclusively with Bic biros. Hundred and hundreds of Bic biros. Thousands of them. Squillions. He's probably responsible for certain species of squid becoming endangered with all of the ink that he saps. Not that we mind though, because the pieces that come out of it are somwhat amazing. Often a couple of metres tall, the detail and precision that is required to create such work makes our eyes go fuzzy. Someone give that man a stationary sponsorship.
Casas first takes a photograph of his subject, and then spends countless hours replicating them with pens. Over the past few years, his portraiture has been getting more and more NSFW, some of which are shown in the above gallery. The pen is mightier than the sword, clearly.
