The dude's got to be a sucker for punishment. Jim Denevan's massive
scale drawings in sand see him walking up to 30 miles and slaving away
on a beach for up to 7 hours, to create a single piece of art that will
be washed away at high tide never to be seen again. It reminds me of
the Tibetan monks who spend days creating beuatifully intricate sand
mandalas only to sweep it all up once complete... Intense. His pieces
are constructed entirely free hand with no measuring aids whatsoever.
Pretty amazing when you see the wonderful symetry and geomtery in his
crop circle like patterns. As far as artist studios go, the idealic
locations that Jim uses for his artform sure beats the hell out of
slaving over a canvas in a tiny studio all day. Awesome work.
