Colette Calascione's Victorian-style portraits are not entirely true to the era, which is certainly not a bad thing. Alongside the traditional lush colours and intricate patterns and Mona Lisa smiles, her subjects are sometimes covered head-to-toe in tattoos, or have two heads, or the body of a bird, are busily shagging giant lizards, or engaging in big, tangled orgies.
As if you don't want to click on her gallery right now. (That wasn't a metaphor.)
Calascione was born in San Francisco and is now based in New York where she creates her rich and luxurious mash-ups of traditional portraiture and super sexy pin-ups.
