Strangely, we've never done a story on Australian-born, Brooklyn-based, lowbrow artist Anthony Lister. Nobody knows why, because his paintings are incredible.

Apparently because some viewers believe his brush-strokes sometimes look unintentional, Lister has taken to creating mirror images of many of his paintings, just to prove that each stroke is quite intentional, thought through and considered.

Changing the ways we look at superheroes in this series of paintings; there's a fat, donut-eating Batman, a very slimy looking Joker, a Wonder Woman / Hulk hybrid and even Jesus.

LOL Anthony Lister and Ben Frost are two different people. Two different respects. Ben Frost is worth going to see. Anthony Lister is just a punk. I saw them both at Semi Permanent, like I said Ben gets some respect but Anthony is an idiot. (Unless you are Ben Frost and in that case you go boi!!)

^^^Pack those punches girl! Two different people and two different attitudes, but props where props are due. Both Ben and Anthony are very talented guys and well worth checking out. Love the superhero on acid perspective that Anthony puts out there. Whether his brush strokes are intentional or not, there's no denying that Anthony articulates an idea and executes it in a manner that is both original and unique, and indeed tangible to the veiwer. Ben Frost is the shizz!

Love his stuff....his presentation at semi perm was fun and real..a great contrast to some of the other stiffer presenters...I got a great insight into his world thru his photography...love him or hate him he put it out there for all to see....both lister and frost are inspirational....maybe personality wise not appealing to everyone but the art has cred...cracking shit!
