New York-born, LA-based artist Alex Gross manages to mix slightly sinister themes with perfect beauty. The 43-year-old is a pretty big deal in the world of Pop Surrealism / lowbrow, and it's pretty easy to see why.
Gross's paintings are hyper-realistic and completely fantastical all at once. His most recent project
Product Placement centres on globalisation, comsumption, advertising, branding and perception. The mixed media pieces (on canvas, paper and panel) use antique photographs and everything in-between. They're spectacular.
The show is currently open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, New York and runs until March 24th.
